Role of a Database:
The DBMS serves as the bridge between the user and the database. DBMS allows the user to manage, control or provide access to the data of the database.  The DBMS manages the interaction between the end user and the database. DBMS presents single, integrated view of the data in the database.
The DBMS receives all application requests and translates them into the complex operations to fulfill those requests. The DBMS hides much of the database's internal complexity from application programs and users. The application programs are usually written languages such as VB, Java, C++ and etc. DBMS enables the data in the database to be shared among multiple applications or users. DBMS integrates the many different users' views into a single data repository.
